Ideas for improving the Xero Payroll APIs

  2. Allow the viewing of all leave applications

    Currently the LeaveApplications endpoint in the Payroll API only lets you see approved leave applications. I believe it should show all leave applications (awaiting approval, approved, rejected) with an appropriate status for each.

    A use case for this is to develop an automated shared calendar that lists all leave for an organisation, with leave awaiting approval in as "tentative" and approved leave in as "confirmed", allowing all employees to see at a glance if someone else is taking leave at the time they're going to request.

  3. Payroll API

    Now that Australian Xero organisations have a full payroll application within Xero, it would be great to expose functionality such as timesheets, payrun details etc via the API. Some work will need to be done to connect this to the Xero API and we need to implement special permissions to only allow access for specific users and applications.

  5. Payroll API for New Zealand

    It would be great to have a payroll API for New Zealand so that we could develop the same features for Australian and New Zealand clients.

    For example, as part of integrating our travel online booking tool being able to export employee data like first name, last name and email will enable the creation of traveller profiles to be streamlined for Xero NZ cilents.

  7. Mark "Reportable as W1 on Activity Statement" via API

    Payitems can be exported via API but marking them as "Reportable as W1 on Activity Statement" still has to be done in the web interface.

  9. Ability to send xero Timesheet records for employee from other systems

    Ability to post records of employee worked hours directly into timesheets alligning to the pay cycle for those employees. This would allow many products the ability to dumpo employee worked hours directly to payroll within xero. Users can then process payroll as normal.

  10. US Payroll API

    The US version of Xero now has payroll functionality. We plan to provide an API for the payroll function, similar to the existing Australian payroll API.

    Subscribe here to be notified about progress, possible beta testing and roll out dates as they come to hand.

  11. Be able to see which Tracking Category is linked to which section in Payroll

    It's nice we can get the list of Tracking Categories (and options). However, it would be nice to be able to see which Tracking Category is linked to "Timesheet Categories" in the payroll config.

    Since I need to associate this with timesheet data for uploading, it's important to be able to prevent users from mistakenly associating with the wrong set of options.

  12. Add a payroll API call for querying leave types

    Currently calls to the LeaveApplications methods in the Payroll API require you to know the internal ID of the leave type you're interested in. Because of this, it would be good to be able to get a listing of the types of leave currently configured, and get details of a specific leave type.
