Create API to get VAT return
I would like to see how much has been calculated to 'pay to customs' for the current period. The same value seen in the current VAT report.

Include also zero balances account in result
When an account has a zero value in the P&L Report (but also in all others), it is excluded from the returned data.
The request is to provide in the result all accounts, even if they have 0 balance and/or no transactions2 votes -
make reporting api developer friendly
The Xero reporting api needs an overhaul to enable to report content in a format that makes it much easier to parse and retrieve data from it. The current way the data is represented requires custom parsers to be created at the consumer's end

Allowing the Customer Invoice Report to have an Account Number Field as more and more accountants use customer numbers rather than the customer name.

add an option BankSummary to include accounts with zero balances and no transactions
When an account has a zero balance and no transactions for the specified time period in the Bank Summary Report, it is excluded from the returned data.
The request is to provide an optional parameter, 'includeZeroBalances' or the like, that includes these accounts and displays them in the report with zero balances.

Create API to get information from Inventory reports (sales by item)
I would like an API which tells me the same information as I can see in the Sales by Item report, this would mean I can see how much I sell in a month, or selected dates, of a particular item.
For example I have an item called hourly rate I would like to GET the total invoiced in the month for hourly rate

Have the Aged Receivables API actually match the report in Xero
Just have the API produce the aging buckets like the report

fix the Balance Sheet report via the API to support periods and timeframe
You have recently completed "fix the Profit and Loss report via the API to support periods and timeframe", but not for Balance Sheet.
This means can't do weekly cashflow reporting as balance sheet items are end of the month only which defeats the purpose of the P&L fix as need to balance this across to the balance sheet.
Should be able to do as at any date.
BUT can do this report via the Xero Reports in Xero. Needs to be consistent.

Sort your reports out
Why are Xero reports so frustrating??? Is it just me?
Another one that has wasted extreme amounts of time, the vat audit report.
Why is it spread over a ridiculous area so you have to view it in wide view to see any useful information. What is the point? It fits it on a normal view then expands itself and you lose half the useful information?
Then you have to randomly click all the blue underlined options to find the ONE that drills down to the detail. You check what you need to - ie why the hell there are…1 vote -
Tracking Summary Report with Account Groups and Tracking Categories
Xero is awesome for Financial data management and manipulations. Its API providing the extra strength to Xero for integrating Xero with other webapps. Of course Most of the APIs are in still Xero Development Phase, But we need an extensive API for getting the reports(at minimum Tracking Summary Report) to make the use of tracking summary data inside webapps.

Include statementLineID in Bank Statement report
In lieu of a Bank Statement endpoint, including the statementLineID in Bank Statement report would be really helpful
We present a view of the Xero bank statement and show the bank account balance in some of our reports. It's difficult to reliably keep the bank statement in sync without some kind of unique ID on the statement line.

I would like the Receivable Invoice Detail report exposed to the API, if possible. Right now I have to generate the report (with some custom settings) and export it in order to copy over sales data on specific SKUs to our custom system so we can do some analysis on those items. This is all a manual process, and it would be so much nicer to be able to automate it to run as a daily task that uses the API. Thanks for your help!

indigenous employee report
Add an employee flag for indigenous/non-indigenous to allow reporting of the number of indigenous employees for all payroll type reports. This is grant reporting requirement for indigenous corporations.

Trial Balance Report - Add Parameter to specify sort order
At the moment the Trial Balance report via the API can only be sorted by Account Name. I would like to see a new parameter to allow us to specify the sort order for the report, e.g. by Account Name or Account Code. These are the same options available in the Xero UI.

Give the API the ability to provide the minimum of every report that Xero has
I have found an awesome tool by Quick Win Development (http://www.quickwindevelopment.com/) that allows us to extract data via the API straight into Excel.
Because 80% plus of the reports I ever generate in Xero are exported directly to Excel, please can Xero build into the API the ability to replicate every report currently supplied by Xero, as a bare minimum seeing as though the Reports are diabolical compared to other accounting systems. Particularly for me the P&L by month for a start/end date period.
