Reconcile via the API
Be able to reconcile bank statement lines via the API.
279 votesThank you for the continued feedback and for your patience on this long‑running request. We know that programmatic bank reconciliation and AI‑driven workflows are increasingly important to many of you, and we understand the frustration that this capability is not available via the Xero API.
After reviewing this again with our legal, risk and banking teams, we have confirmed that we will not be adding the ability to reconcile bank statement lines via the API or to expose unreconciled bank statement data via the public API.
There are a few key reasons for this decision:
- Regulatory and contractual obligations on raw bank data. Unreconciled bank statement lines are “raw” banking data – unmodified information that comes directly from banks. In markets such as Australia, this data is treated as banking data under consumer data rights regimes. Sharing it on to third parties (including via an open API) would require us…

Return bank transaction id in GET Payments
Instead of just the Boolean "IsReconciled" with GET Payments, please include the bank transaction id that could be used to join the payment with a bank transaction from GET BankTransactions.
2 votesPayments aren’t reconciled against “Bank Transactions” from the /BankTransactions endpoint.
“Bank Transactions” are spend and receive money transactions https://central.xero.com/s/article/Add-a-receive-money-transaction
The are reconciled against “bank statement lines” which come in on bank feeds and can’t be retrieve by the API

When there is a SALE in showroom through credit card, the money go to the credit card company and after deducting their charges they will credit our bank with the balance amount.
For eg: if the sale is 1000, they will credit our bank with 977, meaning their charges is 23.
The entry would be:
Dr. Bank 977
Dr. Credit Card company 23
Cr. Sales 1000I would like to make this…
1 voteHi Syamjith,
We don’t plan to allow Manual Journals to affect the AP,AR or bank balances. These balances are designed to only be affected by invoices/bills, spend/receive money transactions, and bank transactions in Xero. If you need to journal to a bank account there are some alternative methods available here: https://help.xero.com/int/Q_JournalBankAcc
