LeaveBalances are now available via the Xero Payroll API. They can be obtained via the Employees endpoint. More details are available here: http://developer.xero.com/documentation/payroll-api/leavebalances/

Hi, I would like to know how to get a leave balance based on a given date.
I noticed however that current leave balances are now included in the employee data.
However, http://developer.xero.com/documentation/payroll-api/leavebalances/ does not provide instructions on how to get how much my leave balance will be on a given date.
Say I would like to apply for leave 2 months from now, how much will my leave balance be on Jan 12,2016? How do I query for that?

We'd like to be able to show employee leave balances, so they can enter them into an external system for award interpretation. Staff entering leave directly into Xero breaks overtime and penalty rate calculations.
