Integrate with 37signals Basecamp
There are currently a number of applications that provide integrations between Xero and Basecamp:
- OneSaas: http://www.onesaas.com/Integrate/basecamphq-with-xero
- Zapier (Basecamp classic): https://zapier.com/zapbook/xero/basecamp-classic/
- Zapier (Basecamp): https://zapier.com/zapbook/xero/basecamp/
We are not aware of any plans by Basecamp to connect directly to Xero, so we recommend checking out one of the above services.

Can you please not mark this as complete. The 219 people here are requesting native integration, not the existing third party solutions that may or may not stay in business or continue to work if Basecamp or Xero makes updates. Please only mark complete if you Xero actually complete the work. Otherwise all the users have to start a new thread all over, and people will think its a new idea where infact this was requested first in 2009.

I like the idea of a basecamp integration but unless 1. basecamp adds time tracking back into their newest version that is being tested right now and 2. Xero does time imports via API, then I would frankly rather see more integration with Freshbooks allowing for import of contractor and employee hours for payroll processing..

Why not pull the hours through for clients so we can automate invoices? That couldn't be that hard to do as first step?
If it's more comments you want.. well I might just have to get you some more :) LOL

This would be great! At the moment we create quotes (draft invoices) in xero and then when the client signs them off we move them to work in progress (approved invoices) and then have to manually create the project for each one in base camp. Seems silly to be duplicating the work when it should be a fairly simple task to API titles/invoice (job) numbers between the two systems.
Come on Xero, make friends with base camp – you'll get on really well!

I'd love to see this with the following basic workflow
- create quote (draft invoice) in Xero
- export quote to Basecamp (TItle = Project) (Line items=task group / timings)
- run project in Basecamp
- add time to project in basecamp by adding time to existing or additional tasks
- push back to xero to update or create a new quote
- supply quote to client or approve quote and invoice -

I use the time tracking for clients in Basecamp and use Xero. Is there any news on this - I googled Xero and Basecamp to find this thread.

Bring it on! This would be a great match.

The efficiencies gained would be highly valuable to any modern business using these tools. To avoid the replication of effort allows us to focus on more important things. I fell that this would be another strong platform play for Xero taking it yet another step away from old school systems like myob etc.

it’s more about feeding in hours for billing than anything else. I'm not worried about importing high rise deals into xero or sharing contacts...
Would just streamline the business process to feed in billing info and not have to replicate recording hrs, invoice details that’s already there in basecamp. -

Currently we use a mash up of Freshbooks, zoho crm and zoho projects & xero. It's a mess, but the best we can do. If highrise, basecamp and xero spoke to each other with invoices and clients it would be pretty massive.

I'd love to see Basecamp + Harvest + Xero idea. As it is I have Basecamp + Harvest and can export csv to give to my accountant but she'd love it if I just had a Xero account. :)

Hi, I think that Highrise integration would be more valuable. Highrise has the "deals" system in the 37 signals suite and once you've marked a deal as "won" you can now create a basecamp project from it.
The deals in Highrise have fixed bid or ongoing cost options but the biggest problem is that they don't have dates, nor can you mark them as being invoiced.
Freshbooks has Basecamp integration and allows you to invoice for todo list items - however in most projects we do this would create so many line items it would be quite ridiculous. I'd prefer to provide an invoice, with a timesheet separately if required by the client.
So basically, I would like to be able to import Highrise deals into Xero, for fixed bid, generate an invoice and perhaps set an expected payment date (ideally this would be calculated based on this client's history - ie. how quickly do they usually pay?) and for recurring costs, set a start and end date and have the invoices generated automatically, also with an expected payment date.
I would then expect to be able to see all this in some sort of cashflow report.

@ Jason
What's the point of commenting if you don't see this as a value add? Just don't use it. It's valuable for others and it would certainly be valuable for our business.

I don't see this as a huge value add.

We use the time tracking feature in basecamp pretty heavily. Syncing contacts with basecamp would be nice.
It would be ideal if Xero could auto-import info from time tracking in basecamp. If we were able to create invoices in xero and send them directly to basecamp that would make things much much faster.
Personally speaking, we don't use milestones (calendar) to create invoices. We itemize everything we do with time tracking instead.

Being able to sync contacts and companies at least would be helpful but the more the better. The number one accounting software online with the number one online project management software would be shaaaweeet =)
