It is extremely frustrating that the report that comes from the API often in no way resembles the report that the Xero end-user actually uses via the UI, to the point that they don't even recognize it. They invested a lot of time making a custom layout with groups, rules, etc and the result is a pretty fantastic presentation of their financials, but all that work just gets thrown out when a 3rd party application collects the statements. IE, it is very hard to have any intelligent conversation about the financial statements if you aren't actually looking at their statements, but rather a disorderly bundle of account names under several generic headings.
Thanks for your time and consideration. I'd happily contribute development hours to make this happen or contribute more to your public SDK projects if that would help the timeline.

I am trying to use Flex financial reporting with Xero for bespoke reporting but it seems the APIs have not been updated for Xero's new reports.
Can this be updated ASAP - we pay a large subscription for this service and this cost is becoming less beneficial with issues like this.
Please update this or we will need to look at an alternative system.

Adding my max votes for this
I have a custom Trial Balance Report
2 columns Account , Account Code
12 month comparison columns
No Grouping or sumarisationExported as Excel this is a nice flat file
unfortuantely the API scope - accounting.reports.read
does not appear to offer any way of retreiving this reportThe https://api.xero.com/api.xro/2.0/Reports/TrialBalance
returns a fairly unreadable JSON that groups and sumarises and requires too much painful and flimsy logic to flatten into something usefulPlease can we have Reports flattened in the API

Now that Xero is pushing its new reports and planning to retire the old reports in July, this is even more important. Despite deprecating their older reports, Xero has yet to provide an actual transition plan for developers who need reports through the API. Updating the API to allow following the layout of the new reports is an interesting idea, and I added some of my votes to it. If you're interested, I also submitted an idea for Xero to create a real transition plan for developers, since they have none at present.
