It is extremely frustrating that the report that comes from the API often in no way resembles the report that the Xero end-user actually uses via the UI, to the point that they don't even recognize it. They invested a lot of time making a custom layout with groups, rules, etc and the result is a pretty fantastic presentation of their financials, but all that work just gets thrown out when a 3rd party application collects the…

Give the API the ability to provide the minimum of every report that Xero has
I have found an awesome tool by Quick Win Development (http://www.quickwindevelopment.com/) that allows us to extract data via the API straight into Excel.
Because 80% plus of the reports I ever generate in Xero are exported directly to Excel, please can Xero build into the API the ability to replicate every report currently supplied by Xero, as a bare minimum seeing as though the Reports are diabolical compared to other accounting systems. Particularly for me the P&L by month for a start/end date period.

Include statementLineID in Bank Statement report
In lieu of a Bank Statement endpoint, including the statementLineID in Bank Statement report would be really helpful
We present a view of the Xero bank statement and show the bank account balance in some of our reports. It's difficult to reliably keep the bank statement in sync without some kind of unique ID on the statement line.

be able to retrieve Reports in PDF format as it is with the website
I would like to export PDF reports via the API to email to management monthly via a 1 click process. I cannot built this presently without converting the report data to PDF format myself.

Expose internal unique identifiers in the API when retrieving reports
Because we currently extract accounts through reports, we don't get the internal unique identifier and have to match on number and name. If the user re-names or re-numbers an account in Xero (and this is likely to happen to other entities) we lose the connection to the account stored in our system and the user potentially loses data.

Create a transition plan for Reports via the API
Xero will be retiring the old reports on July 31. By retiring the old reports, you also retire the only place where subscribers can affect the layout of the Profit and Loss report retrieved via the API. However, to date, you offer no replacement and no transition plan to your subscribers or developers.

Match prior period treatment in Profit & Loss to Balance Sheet with regard to toDate parameter
Per the documentation for Profit & Loss periods, the only way to always get a full month of data for previous periods is to start in a month with 31 days.
Given we have a 30 June year end this is a pretty annoying workaround.
The confusing thing is that setting up the Balance Sheet in a month with 30 days doesn't result in this issue and prior periods will automatically show the 31st day where applicable.

make reporting api developer friendly
The Xero reporting api needs an overhaul to enable to report content in a format that makes it much easier to parse and retrieve data from it. The current way the data is represented requires custom parsers to be created at the consumer's end

Tracking CategoryID/OptionID parameters in Trial Balance endpoint.
Adding in the tracking CategoryID and OptionID parameters to the trial balance endpoint would allow for easier & more detailed analysis across multiple tenants in client-specific use cases. The capability exists in the UI via the "new" Trial Balance, so there's a disconnect between the expected level of detail one can get from the UI vs. the API.
