Enable the upcoming Purchase Order module to link to outside applications
My company has an app that services a very large niche market- all of those clients (tens of thousands) also need accounting. Our current app has rudimentary accounting in it but we are seeking to set up a sync with a dedicated cloud-app for all the accounting. Purchase Orders are crucial to this niche market and if we could sync them with Xero via api it would make a huge difference.
(Provide GET/PUT/POST PurchaseOrders endpoint)
Today we’ve released POST PurchaseOrders so you can now update purchase orders via the API: http://developer.xero.com/documentation/api/v2-release-notes/#2.191
These means you can now retrieve, create, update and delete (via an update) purchase orders using the API.
Thanks for you patience everyone, we know it’s been a long time coming!

This would be an excellent feature for us

I'm also keen on getting this functionality. We're currently stuck with creating an accounts payable invoice and leaving it in draft status, which isn't ideal. Some sort of ETA on this feature would be appreciated.

Xero please respond to the comments and give everyone here that has been eagerly waiting an update. Is there a team working on this? Has it been pushed down the priority list? Do you even check these comments? Common, show us some life!

Any updates on this? You have had this planned for a year now?

Agree with others - need this functionality ASAP.

The 12 month anniversary of being marked as 'planned' just passed.
As of last week Xero has basic inventory.. The need for API access just increased dramatically.
This request sits at position 4 on this page, I suspect it would be higher but most people don't understand how this feature would improve integration with other packages.
Come on Xero.. push it out!

Our Company really REALLY needs this function exposed in the API !
At the moment we are generating Invoices using ACCPAY type (A hack to try and have some form of functioning PO system in Xero), however this has created serious headaches for our accountants.
Our only other option is to roll our own code for our stock management system, and try to shift as much of our Purchase Requesition / Purchase Order code away from Xero, and create an ACCPAY invoice as a last courtesy for Xero so as there is some matching of data...
Please consider making this request a priority as 362 votes for this function CLEARLY shows that this a priority for YOUR customers.
It has been almost a year since we have heard any update on the status for this task from Xero, so it is extremely difficult (and dissapointing) to recommend include ANY future integration with Xero moving forward.
As a customer, WE need to be sure of timeframes or statuses for implementing requested features.(Even if this indiciation is a flat out NO, we do not plan on implementing this feature any time in the near future)....
Please show your developers some consideration, and provide som sort of an update to this request. -

Really need this function to continue to use Xero. This has been requested since 2013 we are now in 2015 and it is still not available?

+1 all objects should be available through the API (at least read only) we need to able to read Quotes and Sales Orders so that we can have a proper cash flow management.

This would be nice so our e-commerce software could pre-populate draft POs for replenishment based on demand ... for now I guess we'll just dump to good old Excel

Just wanted to chime in here as well and ask that this feature be added. Read-only access is fine with me if it means it gets the ball rolling.

Is this going to be implemented any time soon? The ability to transfer purchase orders is key to our business growth. If there's no appetite then we'll have to consider another alternative.

We really need this API feature for Xero to be a viable solution for us. Is this still in your list of top priority feature requests as stated in March?

I can not believe 12 months have passed and all if Xero's money and show boating has resulted in a product (which let's face it is heavily dependent on its add one) does not have API support for PO's. It was bad enough not being able to turn a Sales order in to a PO (a simple copy you would think) in 2013 and now in 2014 we find once again they can not actually get a another simple thing out of the door. To much spent on shows and tours and marketing I think and not enough on actually getting the product fit for purpose. Another one eyeing up quick books.

I found your product 10 minutes ago but will now be leaving because it doesn't have this essential feature - add it and we'll be back!

Any news on this? Honestly read only would be fine for now. We'll be moving to Xero from Quickbooks for 2015 and it would be a huge benefit to have API access to POs.
