Link Projects to Invoice Line Items
Currently its impossible to link invoice items (revenue) to projects using the Accounting API. Furthermore, its impossible to modify invoices that have line items that have been linked to projects using the web UI.
This is a show stopper for us who have automated billing solutions and want to track the profitability of those projects within Xero. It's heartbreaking to have to do this outside of Xero.
Please make it possible for us to link invoice line items to Projects in order to use Xero as our Billing engine for invoices and invoice items that are generated outside of Xero using the API.

What is a project if not a collection of related items such as POs Invoices, Quotes etc.
For Xero not to provide this and not to have any plans to make it happen is ridiculous. Its like saying we sell bicycles oh but not the wheels. -

Because the Xero APIs do not currently allow us to post Invoice line items to Projects then our staff are having to do this manually. The rest of the process is automated but this last step requires human intervention.
It doesn't make sense to be able to associate line items to a Project at the user interface but not through the API. This devalues our workflow automations and frustrates the heck out of our staff!

+1 for this feature request. Without this, the project tracking in XERO is useless.
Hope XERO can implement this quickly as competitors already have this functionality. -

+1 on this - this is critical for us, using the Project part of Xero and linking our project status in our internal system to the accounting elements.
