Allow purchase records to be sent via the API for bank feed matching before they are categorised
Currently, receipts sent to Xero through the Spend Money API require an account code before they can be submitted. For receipt capture apps, this means users must categorise the purchase within the application before Xero can match it to the corresponding bank-feed transaction.
There is a need for receipt capture applications to be able to send the receipt and transaction data directly to Xero without an account code. Xero could then use the transaction data, such as the date, amount and contact, with its existing matching functionality to match it to the relevant bank-feed transaction. Coding and reconciliation would then be handled within Xero using its existing recommendations, rules or automation such as JAX.
This would create a much more streamlined receipt-capture workflow: capture the receipt, populate the transaction data and send it directly to Xero, where it is matched to the correct bank transaction and coded within Xero.
Where Xero can automate those final steps, the receipt could effectively go from capture to reconciliation without the user first needing to handle the coding within any third-party application.
