add custom fields to contacts
Ability to create or edit additional 'custom' fields to use for notes, additional phone numbers, job descriptions, etc.

Currently, we’ve no plans to work on this feature but please continue to add your votes and comments.
We’re continually adjusting our priorities as different features are completed and your feedback is really important.

+1 from me... would be really useful as we have to record extra details (basically just a couple of registration numbers) about customers for HMRC compliance reasons and I'd rather have these details in the one place.

It would be ideal to be able to add custom fields with selectable custom field types, this would bypass the need to have add-on third party products to provide the facility. This would give users a one-stop product and make the product more attractive to potential new customers.

I need to add car rego per contact that is search able - not per invoice.
MYOB had 3 x Custom List options and also 3 x Custom Field options.
I am trying to move client across to xero but to not be able to add REGO and search is likely to be a show stopper for him. -

Any updates on this? We really need to add custom data for our clients such as their start date with us and the internal account manager assigned to them. Seems like an easy add. I know Workflowmax allows this but we can't use WFM because they don't support multi-currencies. We also need these custom fields to be searchable, such as pulling a list of customers just for one account manager.

I think this would be a great idea, have a not for profit that provides water to a small community and to be able to add custom data to the contact either in static data or list form would be great. We have been looking for an add on to handle this but alas non provide for custom data against contacts.

Is Xero working on adding more fields to Contacts. This seems to be something that many people need, as we do, and I can't find any indications of this. The adding of the ID is great but additional information fields shouldn't be that hard surely.

+3 @xero I think you're responding to a different feature request, this is about adding custom fields to contacts, not to invoice lines etc. I don't see how the tracking field helps with this?

would like to be able to manage the data we have in a custom field as well; in our case we have a 'salesperson' attached to 'invoices', we would like to send the salesperson data via the api when creating the invoice
