Users are asking about this periodically. As a Xero App, it is frustrating that we cannot implement this for users that use Datamolino line items exports into Xero. Datamolino is heavily used for line items in Xero. It would be real nice if Xero would get around to actually implementing this.

I've been doing R&D to see if we could use XERO for the billing part alongside our own system, and just relaize there is no way to link invoices to project5s... Please implement this feature, this is truly critical for anybody using the XERO api that want decent reporting. To force users to do it manually is insane. I couldn't agree more with this comment. We are generating outside of Xero using the API and are unable to add project codes to the entry. Please look at this as am urgent request and fast track on road map.

Agree with all the comments below - we are a cross-hire business using API software to manage our hire contracts. We have paid for the Projects module in Xero for years which has been worthless - all the time being ridiculously optomistic that Xero will allow access to the Projects table which we can now link to.....but without access to invoice lines which seems illogical. Message from the API team yesterday saying this isn't on the roadmap. Very disappointing

While I've explored the existing endpoints for both invoices and projects, I haven't found a clear way to establish this relationship through the API data itself.

For others who need this, I highly recommend looking into Python with Selenium to remote control a Website through a browser (or similar with your platform)

Many customers require the ability to identify how invoices lines related to projects (similar to how bills can be linked to invoices via the LinkedTransactions endpoint).

Something similar would be extremely useful and would complete the functionality. Being able to read/write (but for us, at a minimum to read the data) is required.

Until that exists, the projects api is not entirely useable.

I develop custom integrations for small to medium sized construction/contracting businesses and help consult them on automating some of their processes.

I have been looking all over the place for a good bookkeeping and accounting software to recommend them that seems to be the friendlist to people in these industries, and Xero seemed like a good fit at first because of the projects API, which is something that other options like QuickBooks haven't supported properly for years.

But it's impossible to really meaningfully help them lessen their workload, excel and grow, if you can't interact with the projects on the bills and invoices.

All construction and contracting is based on projects and more projects, and manually trying to keep track of each and everything is a growth killer for the businesses I work with. Either they bleed money due to poor bookkeeping and accounting, or just can't keep up with it all and have to limit their growth.

I would really love if this was supported for the sake of all businesses out there that operate in a project centric manner. Thank you.
