allow notes in invoice output

there are some situations where it's useful to add a note to an invoice that's include in the invoice PDF. e.g a message about the reverse charge VAT treatment for EC customers. I would guess there's more exceptions like this where a note would be useful.

    Currently working on an integration project between Xero and our own WMS with my client.

    At the moment to get notes/special instructions to flow through with the invoice data it needs to be entered in the reference field. The notes/special instructions are important to my client.

    Is there a possibility of bundling <HistoryRecords> with the invoice data? or adding notes within the <Invoice> group?

    A solution for those of us that aren't developers or have no idea how to use API would be great!

    This is a major function I sorely miss after changing from Reckon to Xero. I always type notes to the customer in the "Reference" field which is cumbersome, plus I'd rather use that for an actual reference :)

    Adding a note to the invoice would be very useful to the user base. Comments on this go back 4 years. How can this not be done yet?

    This idea seems to have stalled. I need the ability to add comments via the API because I have sales people in Salesforce adding notes for accounts people. Each stays in their own world and to be able to pass status and progress notes between the 2 systems would be brilliant.

    This feature is VERY VERY IMPORTANT. Adding Comments into the Lineitems does only work for invoices that are not yet paid. We have retail clients who pay in advance; so the possibility too add comments into the Lineitems is completely gone. I agree that it would be better to have custom fields that can be seen also in the gui,. However, currrently we have NOTHING. So at least we do want to be able to add notes via the API.

    I'm confused by this - this ticket seems to be about adding publicly visible notes to invoices, eg a completely new feature.

    However, it is linked to from "Add a note to an invoice" here https://developer.xero.com/documentation/api/invoices/ which, I assume, refers to allowing the API to add the type of notes that already exist to invoices (eg. the "History and Notes" section at the bottom of an invoice).

    We have that need - we need to be able to include such private notes from our CRM to make that visible when we adjust and approve automatically generated invoices.

    I would like to have the ability to add a comment or note for a ACCPAY invoice (Purchase bill) to have the useful information.

    Although we invoice in USD, we're required to include in the invoice the exchange rate for our local currency, using an official exchange rate table. This means that this information change everyday.

    Having the possibility to add a comment, or even better "custom fields" to be used in the template, is essential.

    Is there a particular method for adding a comment-only line item? Or do we simply add a LineItem with a UnitPrice of 0.00 and Quantity of 1?
