Allow attachments of PDF on payable invoices
Store supplier invoices with the invoice transaction in xero. Doubles as a storage system and makes retrieval much easier. Worth paying the upper price plan for
We have released the ability to attach files to AP invoices today: http://blog.xero.com/developer/v2-release-notes/
There have been some comments about adding attachments to other documents in Xero. For now, only receipts and AP invoices are supported as in the main application, but any changes to this in the main application, we will work to reflect in the API.
Any questions about using the attachment functionality, feel free to ask a question in our forum: https://community.xero.com/developer/
Thanks

this would be a good feature to include in a number of places. I would also like the ability to add attachments to accounts receivable for example... not just accounts payable.
one way of handling this might be to allow attachments to the history and notes, which would also allow multiple attachments. the history & notes class would need to be exposed via the API to be truly useful.
this is a good first step though :)

Awesome. And thanks for the mailing list tip.

Only one attachment! I need to attach two or three per invoice.

WOuld be great to allow API access to do this.
Also would be great to integrate with Google Apps to link to a doc stored in Google Docs.

It'd be cool to be able to send PDFs to a e-mail address which adds them to a queue of invoices to be processed in Xero. For example, whenever I receive e-mails containing an invoice as a PDF I could forward to this address and they'd be waiting for me in Xero to process later.

Xero does it again. Well done!

We offer attachments in the Xero app now - see http://blog.xero.com/2011/05/keeping-all-your-documents-in-one-place/ . We're looking to add ability to upload files for payables and expense claims via API soon - no ETA just yet

I can see already that there will be a greater need in the very near future to be able to provide audit firms with accountings set up in such a way (journal entry = document image), to alleviate the work of audit firms who are costing more and more, particularly for non-profit organizations who have litteraly little or no money to face this financial burden of increasing costs of mandatory audits, so they can comply with the terms of their goverment subsudies. I am hoping to find such a solution soon to help me in my job of overseeting those audit process for the dozen non-profit I am working for at this time. And I would loooooove for that solution to show up at Xero.

I am currently trialling the use of xero in my company. As someone who specialises in P 2 P automation I like to do as I preach. So the ability to at least link a file image to a record ( or multiple files eg delivery note, invoice etc to an individual payables record) is in my view an absolute necessity for long term success. I can see embedding a pdf could make the database cumbersome for larger users. Think multiple file formats need to be supported as e-invoicing comes down the line to smaller SME's a .tif pdf or xml file for HMRC records as well as convenience for archive access. Happy to act as a beta tester of this functionality if required.

I'd would love this feature to. It's not essential but sure would make file management cleaner.
@damon I use Dropbox for my invoices ATM. It allows me to store on mjy PC, sync to the cloud and share with my accountant. I just store them as PDFs using '[invoice#] [company].pdf' as a filename. Xero stores the invoice# which ties the two up

Yes, would love to see this also, esp on expense claims, and loan and chattel mortgage docs - really, anything the the accountant would want to sight. A JPG would likely be much smaller in size.
In the meantime, ask me about our online, secure, encrypted archival service.

No more boxes cluttering office/storeroom
No more breeding silverfish
No more fire hazard
Safe from fire/flood, etc...
No more dirty dusty boxes to find items in.

Would love to see that. But why make it just payables, or just expense acclaim. Just make it a feature that runs thru all xero, for any journal entry that we need to attach a document too (mortgage renewal, accounts payable bills, workmen comps statement, etc.). To have an integrated solution for digitally archived documents, along a web-based accounting solution woud be a dream come true for me, because right now I am searching high and low for such a solution. Weren't we suppose to go paperless like 10 years ago ? ;-)

Definitely want to see attachment of invoice PDF's in Xero. Currently I've got hundreds of supplier invoices in a big folder on my PC. Really should get around to backing that folder up sometime. Ahem. Would sleep more soundly at night if I could load them all in to Xero.

The same for expense claims can be found at http://xero.uservoice.com/forums/5528-xero-api/suggestions/89565-allow-uploading-of-receipt-files-for-expense-cla?ref=title
