when contacts are merged show this status for the API
When merging contacts the system seems to treat them as a delete so we can’t differentiate them from a full delete. Ideally they should show a status of merged and the ID of the contact they were merged with that way we could perform the same action in the CRM of merging the contacts history rather than deleting them.

This one does really need to get resolved - Any API that touches contact will eventually run into this problem, and we all have to find it out the hard way as obscure bugs, then there is no possible workaround. Integrations are broken by this. Essentially, every integration will always break at random because changes inside xero like this cannot be detected or dealt with. The ability to merge contacts is a very useful one, especially for many integrations where one way or another we may not be able to always ensure we are not creating duplicate contacts due to subtly different info in one system or another. If there were simply a way to see these merges in the API our integration could then update to sync to the correct contact automatically, a much better experience for our users.
In order for the API to be truly useful - we need to be able to access these kind of details. Otherwise any integration will ultimately break, seemingly at random and require humans to get in and fix things up. So any integration to xero will always be a fragile, buggy thing. For many customers it will be a frustrating, time consuming experience to deal with this. We'd all prefer to be creating stable, useful code and happy customers

It's about time you did fix this as we've changed systems and Account's have had to be merged into one meaning this is becoming an issue that clearing has an easy fix!
