Customer Credit Limits available via API
Xero has finally released a "Credit Limit" facility for Customer accounts. Please can you make this available through the API?.
Thanks heaps for taking the time to suggest this! We’ve shared your idea with the relevant team at Xero. While we might not be able to action every idea, your feedback plays a big part in shaping where we focus and how we can improve your developer experience.

I’m genuinely stunned that Xero has gone half a decade without giving API access to something as ordinary as the credit limit field. It’s the kind of information you’d assume would’ve been available from day one. What makes it even more absurd is seeing it labeled as “not planned,” as if this is some obscure niche request instead of a totally standard piece of account data. Trying to build integrations around gaps like this is just exasperating.

Hey Arya - where is this end point? I've searched the documentation and I can't find anything.. even in their API Explorer. Can you please give details? Thanks.
Xero - this is a huge demand from businesses - would be a great one to get in please.

Customer credit limits can be retrieved via an API by querying the relevant endpoint, typically requiring customer ID and authentication. The API response usually returns the credit limit, current usage, and available balance.

This really would help with efficiency of workflows between systems especially where custom development is involved. If we could alter the credit limit and credit hold status.

Why not planed we need to update this from or ERP system this makes not sense and seems trivial to add ?

Xero have responded after five years? (and marked as not planned?)
Credit limits are important for every businesses, why on earth wouldn't this be planned and why on earth does it take five years to respond to the top rated suggestion?

This is a critical part of any financial system and accounts management? Credit limits are set for a reason and to not be able to programatically check a limit makes no sense - having used other accounting systems this is pretty much standard. Its not a big change. Given the number of comments does this not merit a rethink please ? This definitely needs focus - credit limit, available amt as a minimum please.

Hi Team,
I wanted to highlight an important point — having access to the customer's credit balance via the API would be extremely valuable for us. We utilize these credits in various scenarios, and being able to fetch this data directly would streamline our processes significantly.
I understand this might seem like a small change from our side, but even minor additions can have a big impact on how the API is used and integrated.
Thank you for understanding and considering this request. Looking forward to your thoughts.

Wasted so much time looking for an API call to an obvious, required feature. Four years and still no movement on this?
You're really going to make some poor soul have to login and manually enter each client credit limit and updates?

This is critical to our business. We are unable to transfer credit limits. Very Simple feature.

Xero - please comment, i have heard conflicting advice and need to hear from you directly - is the credit limit being worked on so it will filter through to connected software?

The fact that this has been an ongoing problem for 3+ years is not good enough. In todays climate it is integrally important that all staff have transparency when dealing with customers and reviewing approved credit limits. I have been told by our operational software development that they are unable to provide me with assistance on credit limits as this is typically sourced from accounting software and Xero is one of the only software providers that haven't developed the API for it. They have noted this is currently impacting 160 customers. As this is crucial information from an operational point of view I now have upper management requesting an investigation to see if a different accounting software would be better suited for our business. We use point of rental for our sales/operations to manage hire contracts. We used have the ability to transfer information relating to credit limits via the "Skype Number". That field has been removed from Xero, Xero have actually included a field for "credit limits" to be populated however this information cant currently be used and is basically redundant. Its not efficient business practise for sales teams to reach out to the accounts team before engaging in every sale to ensure that customers have appropriate credit limits in place.

Clearly, a lot of people would like to be able to see a contact's Credit Limit being accessible through the GetContact endpoint. I can't see why this hasn't been done? If there's a valid reason for not showing it, please (Xero) tell everyone, otherwise why is an apparently trivial change request being ignored?
