Enter budgets via the API. Both historical and current.
This would allow us to build tools to do bulk budget exports for multiple periods from our current system. (I think that budgets import might be coming through the user interface anyway, in which case this isn't really needed).

The ability to enter budgets via the API is a great feature that can streamline workflows, especially for bulk budget exports across multiple periods. This approach enhances integration with existing systems and improves efficiency for teams managing large datasets. Introducing API functionality for entering both historical and current budgets would be a game-changer for streamlining workflows. Bulk exports and imports across multiple periods would save significant time and effort, especially for teams handling large data sets. Entering budgets via the API, both historical and current, would certainly streamline the process. This would allow us to build tools for bulk budget exports for multiple periods from our current system. While it seems like budget imports might already be coming through the user interface, implementing the API for this purpose could still offer additional flexibility and efficiency. Had a customer asking for this today. Because the API doesn't support it they'll need to do budgets outside of Xero, reducing the value of Xero for them.

I would like to be able to write directly to the budget module via the API, so that when reviewing the budget variances with our functionality on reporting, we can then make immediate updates, rather than navigating through multiple menus.

This would really improve our ability to quickly analyse segments of our business in a timely manner and very cost effective rather than double handling

I've encountered the same issue, the sooner the API is expanded to give this functionality would be awesome.

This is one of the missing links to my app. My users have multiple 'branches', therefore I require the ability to import multiple budgets that can be assigned to tracking categories and also import an overall budget. Happy to discuss in more depth.
Agree this would be awesome.

Hi guys any update on this? We're looking at the potential to update the budgets in Xero with the budgets in Float.

We generally prepare the budgets within the Excel for most of our small clients. Most of our clients use 2 tracking codes and there can be a fair number of these combinations. They do budget up the lowest level. For us to produce import sheets, including low level, as well as rolled-up budgets (including all the other combinations in between) and then import these sheets is a lengthy process through the front end. We would like to develop an add-in into which you can import your total budget (as one sheet with lines for each tracking code combination). The add in, should then create all the different budget combinations and import that into Xero through a budget API.

We are currently developing a Line of Business application that uses Xero exclusively as its accounting solution. As our application contains a budgeting and forecasting module, we require the ability for a 2-way synchronisation that incorporates both Tracking Categories and multiple Budgets.

We have built a cashflow forecasting and budgeting application, and we would like to integrate it with Xero and with Xero's budgets pretty closely to keep everything in sync. So batch/row/cell level updates for budget amounts are essential for us.
